Wikis and Wikipedia!
Over the last week, we have talked about Wiki's and Wikipedia. The different uses and how people use these two technologies. Many think that Wikipedia is a good starting point for doing research but not the sole source of information. I agree that Wikipedia provides a good background and it can aid in students researching certain topics. Wiki's are good for brainstorming or talking with communities about issues that you both find interesting. They provided good feedback for class discussions and opens up opportunities for new discussions. Overall, this week was a good discussion.

You know, if you had told me in 2000 when I started that in eleven years people would be doing... well, almost anything people do today with technology, I probably wouldn't believe you. I believe 2000 was the year I was pretty sure YouTube would never catch on.

On the other hand, I just realized it's been over a decade since I started high school, so there's that.
Wikipedia is awesome. They are mostly have the information about things that I do not know. So far, I use Wikipedia a lot to get instant answer to my questions, curiosity, or to get a hint on my professor’s question during the class. Wikipedia is so helpful. And most of the time after I get some information from there, I always cross checked (re-validate) the information I get from there with other sources. As we all know, Wikipedia’s content is made based on collaborative writing from bunch of people. Everyone can edit the content. So, it is important to always "check and re-check" with what other sources.
